I can't get enough traction up here with that thing and I'm just digging holes Girl go There we go Praise Jesus that was stuck Let's take a look at the ruts Oh, wow, there's just a hole here We're even up on elevated ground with low spots down here we left this Two weeks ago we were seeding just over here and we quit cuz it kept getting stuck. Like we'll come back in two weeks. Well This is what happened in two weeks. Look at this.

Oh wow, I mean it's just My boots are getting stuck. That is amazing What a sloppy mask is your rear end drug across that Okay It's always tricky lining this up One man. It's near impossible you can do it, but it's a lot of getting it out of the cab. Don't 15 times.

Oh What an ordeal If you want Scott I'll give them the motions you can drop a pin in it. Where's the pin? Okay There we go Okay, here we go Well guys that was pretty fun. I would say that's officially probably our second worst stuck moment with a big bud Who's just bizarre there how it just fell through he wasn't even seating He had the air drill out of the ground was actually turning around to avoid the mud and I just started spinning the tires down and just stopped and when I tried to pull them to I think three times from the front I probably could have kept going but it was just dragging him right along the frame through the mud and I was starting to dig down as well And the last thing I wanted to do was get a second big butt stuck Because where I was parked or at least that hundred foot of cable We had put me in a spot that was still kind of muddy. So you could see the rains coming in the background There we were I was actually in a moment trying to get some sprain done while these guys recede and hopefully before that rain came through that rain actually did come through and shut us down which Has been on and off but we love rain beautiful clouds in that gorgeous So yeah over here you look here's there's the foeman's and the 600 leg arms was here in the loader He took it 844 John Deere.

He went ahead and drove that back. So I. Went flying the drone it actually can see me standing right there to the right Here's our tracks. You can see where I was pulling on the front there.

See I dug some holes and then there's his tracks It's amazing how much How much mud can just stick you down? It's like a vacuum once you're in it It's just it takes a lot of power to get you out But we didn't break anything. That was what was so So nice about this We took the ladder off the side just so we didn't peel it off because it was stuck down in the mud You know, it would have had a lot of force pulling on it. So that's why the side of the ladder was gone We put it on later on his bud. But anyways, yeah quite some tracks.

So there you go I hope you guys enjoyed the video. It's kind of fun making this and I was sure exciting pulling it out. So yeah fun times.

Ryan and Shane Eat Everything Boysenberry At Knott's Berry Farm



- Hello there! Today we're not hunting
ghosts, we're hunting berries at the Boysenberry Festival
at Knotts Berry Farm. - [Shane] A place you're obsessed with. - Little known fact, I'm actually the world's biggest theme park fan. Don't check me on that, but it's true.

- Tell us a little bit
about the Boysenberry, Ryan. - If Disneyland is the
house that the mouse built, the farm was the place that
was made merry by the berry. This place started as a
little boysenberry stand on the side of the road... (Fast forwarded noise) Rudolph Boysen, who made the boysenberry, which is a cross between a loganberry, a raspberry, and a blackberry.

(Fast forwarded noise) - We gotta stop at some point. I think it's time for us to
eat some boysenberry treats. - Okay, well I was just excited. It's kind of rude to cut someone off.

- Well, you would have kept going. I've heard this. I've heard a 40 minute version of this. - Yeah, I was gonna
condense it to about 20.

- It didn't seem like it. - What do the berry boys
say to start something? - I'm berry excited. - Oh boy.
- No? - Forget I asked.
- Bad? - No, that's bad. Let's just do it.

Let's just, let's go eat.
- Let's just do it. - Yeah, that's--
- That's good. It's a little bit like
Nike, but not quite. - I didn't eat all day yesterday just so I could gorge myself today.

They're gonna have to roll
me out of the turnstiles. - Check this out. I'm also wearing my
special theme park hat. I only wear it when I
want to look like a dad who's angry at his children.
- Or Sam Neill from Jurassic Park.
- Yeah, yeah.

- So we got our tasting card here. Everyone gets one of these
when they enter the park. - Boysenberry sausage on a bun. - Yeah, that's gonna be very good.

I'm berry excited about that. - Who ever... I've never had a bad sausage in my life. - That can't be true.

- Relish, ketchup, and mustard. - Okay, are they all boysenberry-ish? - [Staff Member] They're
all boysenberry, yes. - [Shane] So that's boysenberry mustard. - Boysenberry mustard.
- So we make it in our commissary kitchen,
and you can also buy it in our merchandise stores.
- Oh boy! - So is there boysenberry
actually in the sausage as well? - Oh! - So I'm gonna apply the
boysenberry mustard now.

All right, here we go. - I think we're about to
experience something wonderful. - We may not even be the same person. It's gonna be us before this
bite, and us after this bite.

Who knows where this is gonna take us. - [Shane] You know what, pal? It's been nice knowing you.
- Yeah. Oh my god.
- Yeah! - Yeah. - It's a good sausage.

- We're off to a good start, folks. The nice thing about these,
it's got exactly what every good sausage should have. A nice snap. - It does have a nice snap.
- When you bite into it, it got that nice snap in the skin.

- And then you have the
second punch coming in with the explosion of the
berry flavor in your mouth. - It's a snap... It's almost like a Gusher hot dog. - Not a thing that gets a lot of props usually, but a good bun.

- It is a good bun.
- It's a good bun. - God (bleep) it, that's
a good (bleep) hot dog. The boysenberry, and just
the food in general at Knotts is so good, it actually resulted in the creation of the theme park. Little history fun fact right there.

- I love it. Your knowledge of the boysenberry is admirable.
- It's good. It's alarming, actually. - What if we got a berry scale? Zero meaning, "I don't know about that," ten being, "Berry good." I'll tell you what, I'm giving this a ten.

- Yeah, I'm gonna give that ten berries out of ten.
- That's ten berries out of ten berries. - That's ten bargara berries
for that bad boy right there. - Oh ho, berrygara! - And guess what, berrygara
has his dancing shoes on today. - Oh boy!
- 'Cause I'm gonna be dancing across this park.

- And I'm gonna be moving
my hat around like this. (Laughs) Oh boy. - [Ryan] Boysenberry boba? - Boysenberry boba.
- I think it's boysenberry milk tea with boysenberry filled boba. The napkin escaped me.
- That's fine, that's fine.

Well, let's first just appreciate the gradient.
- I want to taste it! - No, Ryan, let's appreciate the gradient. You'll get to it. Let's appreciate the aesthetic value. - That is a good gradient.

- They put a lot of work into this. - That's true. - All right, here we go. I got a ball right off the bat.

You all right? - This is the greatest day of my life. - It's too good. We ghost hunt to supplement our crippling addiction to boysenberries. - Everything I've done in my life, it's all built up for me to
get here, to have this drink.

- Ten being berry good, zero
being, "Get it out of here." I'm gonna give it an 11. - I want to give it an
11 too, how about that? (Bleep) the scale, I guess, right? I'm gonna devote my life to the berry. We're gonna be the berry boys. - I'm happy to be the berry boys.
- Everywhere we go, they're gonna be like,
"There go the berry boys." - They're gonna be like,
"Ghost hunting, what? "Those are the berry boys." (Ride announcer audio) - Berry boys, berry boys,
berry boys, berry boys! - This is the boysenberry fun bun, and fun it does look indeed.

We got, like, a crunchy exterior, here. We got this flowing lava
of boysenberry topping. Also it's a cinnamon roll inside. - What? Look at how crunchy this looks.

- Eureka! We've done it! - Let me tell you what's going on. - Tell us what's going on inside the Madej mouth.
- In this thing. You do have that classic cinnabun taste, but the whole thing, I
believe, is deep fried. Sometimes you have a cinnamon
bun, you get the soft part.

Who wants it? It stinks, get it out of there. - There's crunch around the exterior, and in the inside, it looks like there's layered boysenberry, as well. 12 Out of ten berries from a berrygara. - I'm gonna give it a 17 out of ten.

- Okay, you went completely
in the opposite direction. - 17! - What's your boysenberry name? - Mr. Berry Boy. (Laughs) Breaking news.

- We have a cameo, a guest
appearance, from an old friend. The hot dog that we had
back in taste test one. - [Shane] He's all grown up. - [Ryan] And he has a
boysenberry bun this time.

- It's a two footer. We'll meet in the middle, right? We'll each eat a foot--
- I'm not gonna meet you in-- - We gotta support it though. - Okay, you get the, hold on.
- Wow. - That's worthy of an Owen Wilson wow.

- You know, we've done a lot together. This may be the defining moment
of our friendship, though. - It's certainly the weirdest
moment of our friendship. Seeing you down the barrel of a two foot hot dog is a weird sight.

- Can we get a shot of hot dog cam? Oh, you're just going for it. Okay, great. That was more of a classic
hot dog flavor, I think. - I'm trying to recover from
what my eyes are seeing.

I gotta say, that's probably
one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had, and I'm glad it happened. - Berry scale, 20. (Laughs) 20 out of 10. It was two feet, so 24.

One for every inch.
- You can't keep going up on the scale, you're gonna--
- One berry point for every inch. - I liked the original sausage better 'cause it had the berry inside. - Oh, so you're going
back down to a twelve. - I think I might go back to a ten.

- This is a boysenberry pie milkshake. Before they put the whipped cream on, I could see little bits
of pie crust in it. - What have we done to
deserve such a thing? I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna take my jacket
off because I need to.

I really enjoy the chunks
of crust that come through. - That's what it's all about. - This is where the boysenberry
flavor rings the most true. - It sings.

- You know what I love
about the boysenberry too? It has the perfect amount of sweetness. - It gives you the
sweetness that you want, and then it heads off on its berry way. - Oh boy. I'm gonna go give this...

I'm gonna give this a 14. - All right. - Because it is my favorite
item we've had so far. - Well, agree to disagree.

I'm going with 160. What a day. - I don't know where we are. - I'm mostly berry now.

I've really, I've become Mr. Berry Boy. I'm gonna change my name on my license. - The hits kept on coming.

It was a greatest hits tour,
and I was snapping along all the way.
- Oh yeah. You were tapping your feet.
- And now, the snapping's a little
slower, now I'm starting to... I might knock out soon. So now that we've stuffed
our bellies full of berries, how about some roller coasters? - That sounds like a
bad idea, and I love it.

- Let's (bleep) do it. Yeah! All right, I'm taking my milkshake to go. - That's far up. Welcome the berry boys,
on top of the world! - Oh boy.

It's a big drop. It's a pretty big drop. It's gonna be really great with
all that food inside of us. (Screams).

Organic Sustainable Farming is the Future of Agriculture



In order for us to live sustainably the structures that meet our basic needs must work towards regeneration rather than consumption and depletion. We wanted to find what alternatives exist to buying food at the supermarket which in their current form encourage destructive farming practices. I've been studying sustainable farming systems for over 25 years there are no real issues we can solve all of them. There are really easy answers to grow food quality and with good environmental care.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It means that a farmer starts growing food and growing food there's a lot of unknowns in there. You don't know for whatever reason if you're going to harvest all the things that you've planned to harvest that you've started sowing months back. So the idea is that a group of people support the farmer so the farmer knows he's got an outlet.

Our optimum is to have 200 members at the moment we've got between a hundred and 150. Every week every Wednesday and Thursday depending on where people live we send them they receive a box and they know that every week they're going to get a box of healthy fresh foods that have been harvested just before they got them. For us it means we have stability in the fact that the plants we sow that they are sold. We don't have the issue of food waste because if a broccoli small and it normally wouldn't be able to go to supermarket we can give people two.

Supermarket this is the complete opposite because they are just going for bigger and longer shelf life and that encourages the farmer to go into the input rat race which is a race without an end and they by an ever increasing amount of inputs which results in environmental pollution and all the other downstream effects. As a farmer you want to create healthy soils and healthy plants and healthy animals and further up the food chain you make sure that you create a soil that invites the right sets of microbes, that's the job. We've got the microorganisms which are governing the system we just create a habitat for them then you got the plants growing out of there be it annuals perennials and trees. Then amongst that you've got insects living in there and then we've incorporated pigs sheep cows ducks geese and I'm sure we're forgetting a few bits and bobs and every single item adds value.

The idea was when the olive trees were big enough we would have animals underneath sheep dairy sheep for example we think mixed system is really important between plants and animals to keep the recycling and the cycling optimal going and not having to buy in fertilizers or inputs you don't You don't realize this but this used to be pastoral desert, it was just grass yeah and this is what people can do you can create heaven on earth. Now if that microphone is any good then right now you hear and you hear many many many many more birdsongs then you hear in a New Zealand native forest. Okay they're are not all exotics ah they are not all natives but my god do they free up my spirit. The supermarket system demands that farmers supply uniform blemish free produce favoring looks over nutritional value.

This leads to conventional growing practices like over applying fertilizers and spraying with toxic chemicals. The CSA model eases the pressure on farmers because they are no longer bound to meet these industry demands. Allowing them to farm in a way that produces healthy food as well as building the soil creating biodiversity and increasing resilience to natural forces like drought and pests. We are in a position to do it properly because of the CSA, our members allow us to create that diversity.

That other old system doesn't allow you to create that diversity. If you're interested in the environment if you're interested in being responsible looking after yourself taking responsibility for your own health if you're interested in social responsibility then I would say go out and find initiatives like ours and get your food and your satisfaction from places like that and that will encourage a snowball effect that will change this world. what happens when an ant colony picks up and moves into fresh territory.

Look at these fire ants, Solenopsis geminata. They're ready to move into some fresh new
space, and they've been ready for a long time now. Adding new living space and removing old living
space is important for the health of an ant colony because in the wild, the elements,
creatures, and microbes help keep ant nests fresh and clean. New soils are moved into an ants nest by way
of rains and other things like winds or animal or plant activity.

Alternatively, ant colonies will literally
pick up and move their entire colony to a new location or dig their nests into new soils
abandoning old tunnels that may have become too soiled or too lived in. In a captive ant farm setup, ant colonies
don't have this luxury and are forced to deal with the living space you give them for as
long as you hold them in. So it is important to cyclicly remove old
parts of an ants' setup, especially if they are not natural nests, and replace them with
new living space so the ants can benefit from fresh and clean nesting media. I am actually in the process of drying out
the Fire Nation's outworlds and removing them from the network just to clean them out and
allow them to breathe, free of ant activity for several months.

home, shall we? I'm so excited! A lot of you have been writing to us for years
now asking us when our new improved Hybrid Nests would release, well, the wait is finally
over, AC Family. Proudly presenting our newest flagship formicarium,
the AntsCanada Hybrid Nest 2.0. I've been waiting for so long for these to
finally launch at AntsCanada.Com, as they have taken 2 yrs for the AC Team to develop,
test, tweak, and improve. Let's go over its exciting features for us
ant keepers! When you first receive your Hybrid Nest box
you immediately notice its size.

This is a huge formicarium. It is 10 inches long with a living space of
8 inches x 8 inches. This houses thousands and thousands of ants. You may notice this is our Formica Hybrid
Nest version.

This is the first of our series of genus-inspired
formicariums, and we will roll the other versions out gradually in the coming months. Though this design is inspired by nests belonging
to the genus Formica, almost every species can live in any of the designs. Our Fire Nation will love this Hybrid Nest...
Hopefully. If we compare its size to our old Hybrid Nests,
you will see that these new Hybrid Nests are much bigger by many times, and in case you
wondering about the price, I'm happy to say these new Hybrid Nests will cost a few dollars
less than our previous Hybrid Nests.

So if you look at the cover you will see the
name of the version of Hybrid Nest, as well as an indented area. I wanted this here for people like me who
like to name their ant colonies or label them by species like they do in museums. A sticker or label can be placed here in this
area for that. Or you can simply write in this area with
permanent marker.

Completely up to you! Lifting the cover we see the beautiful interior
of our Fire Nation's new luxurious home. Look at all those rooms and corridors! I cannot wait to see how the Fire Nation makes
use of them. You will also notice several openings on the
sides. There are two openings here and here which
act as exits and entrances.

Our AC Test Tube Adapters fit perfectly inside
so you can attach a new test tube colony directly to the Hybrid Nest, and by the way if this
is your first time seeing these new test tube adapters, we have two sizes, one for smaller
ants to keep their test tubes humid, and a larger AC test tube adapter for your larger
species like Camponotus and Pogonomyrmex. You can also use these to accommodate water
test tubes for the colony to drink, which is what I'll be doing for the Fire Nation. Of course these exits also accommodate our
large size of tubing. You'll also notice this smaller hole which
runs to the other side of the Hybrid Nest, and that is to fixate a heating cable if you're
the type that likes to heat your ant colony for quicker growth.

It is placed on one side so there is a good
heating gradient for your ants to thermo regulate and choose where to position the colony according
to their desired temperature preference. These smaller peg holes above the heating
cables are there for some planned features which we will introduce sometime in the future. You will notice that there are multiple levels
and that the floor is slightly granulated. This helps with foot traction as well as holding
any digging medium in place in case you choose to add some or in case your ants decide to
drag some in from your outworld.

Now lifting the upper portion off the Hybrid
Nest, you'll notice the hydration tray in which you place your hydration medium of choice. Water poured into this tub here flows freely
underneath the living area of the ants and humidifies the ant colony from below via these
tiny microholes. This is the Formica design, so about a 30%
of the floor space is microholed, perfect for most ants. Other Hybrid Designs which will be releasing
overtime over the next few months will have slightly different humidity offerings.

No matter what species of ant you are keeping
you want to maintain a humidity gradient with some drier parts and some more moist parts
so the ants can hydroregulate, super important for the proper rearing of the young. Every species has their moisture preference
so it is always best to give them a varied choice and this Hybrid Nest does exactly that. But enough talk and theory. It's time to see what the Fire Nation thinks
of this custom-designed craft of ant technology.

Let's move the Fire Nation into their new
home! To setup, I first had to secure the glass
onto the Hybrid Nest. I always like to use Elmer's school glue because
it is non-toxic and easy to use. I allowed it to dry over 12 hrs. Also, I had to add my hydration medium.

For the Fire Nation, I am going to use cotton
and toilet paper, but you can also use soil, Ytong, sponge, water gels, perlite, sand,
or whatever media you know your ants like. I also only put it in the areas under the
microholes, but you can fill the entire tray if you so choose. This will hold moisture longer if you're the
type that doesn't want to have to water every two or three days. So my plan was to add pieces of large tubing
into the two exits and cut this highly traveled small tubing, which we call the Geminata Pass
that connects the Fire Palace, the rubbermaid bin, with the surrounding outworlds, and attach
the ends here and here.

On the other holes I was going to place water
test tubes for the colony to drink from. All Hybrid Nests also come with perforated
plugs in case you want to plug any of the exits up. But for the Fire Nation, I wanted this new
home to have a function. I wanted it to be a drinking station, just
so it gave the ants a greater reason to move in to this space and call it home.

So here we go, AC Family, first I had to put
on some gloves because as we saw a couple videos back, these girls pack a good sting! Alright 1 - 2 - 3. I cut the Geminata Pass and quickly attached
the ends to the two exits. All escapees were snatched up and thrown back
into the Fire Palace. Instantly, the ants were alarmed at the sudden
shifting of their trail which prior to this moment remained untouched for many months,
and they became wary and curious at the new smell of the Hybrid Nest.

They stammered about, rather confused at first,
but then they began to wander into the Hybrid Nest. More and more ants came and began to snoop
around. I knew it wouldn't be long before the ants
on both ends would find each other and meet and establish a new trail running through
their new Hybrid Nest. No ant had wandered yet towards the water
test tubes.

I covered the nest and allowed the ants to
move in. Let's see their progress 1 hour later. Lifting the lid. Wow! Looks like the move is well under way.

Ants are drinking from the water tubes and
the ants are moving about excitedly inside. They've also established a trail within the
Hybrid Nest. Let's come back later. 2 Hours later the fire ant trails running
through the Hybrid Nest were now solidified and very apparent.

Every time I came back to check up on the
ants, the trails became more obvious and the ants more excited about their new home. I loved watching the ants establishing their
trails! It was like watch ant highways. Don't they just look mesmerizing? I could seriously watch this all day, every
day. How about you, guys?! So the Fire Nation will take a few more days
still before they  elect this Hybrid Nest a suitable nesting
location.

I will know when they will start to truly
call this home when they start moving the brood into here. I will be sure to keep you guys updated on
their progress. For now, the ants will continue to leave their
pheromones on the surface of the Hybrid Nest and mark their territory. Though I do like natural nests involving dirt,
I do also love keeping ants in dirtless formicariums like this because you can actually see the
interior nest activities of the ant colony uninhibited, not just what happens outside
of the nest.

Hopefully, soon we'll even catch a glimpse
of the queen whom we haven't seen for over a year! Let's hope, AC Family. And by the way, what should we name this new

Life with Barbie Episode 26 - Farm Feels



Bethany! How long are you going to take in there?! Uh, I'm almost done! Stop hogging up the bathroom! Yeah! Some of us need to brush our teeth you know! (Yelling) COME ON HURRY UP I NEED TO BRUSH MY TEETH!! BETHANY HURRY UP!! Ugh. Stop yelling! She's probably on the toilet... And we all know how long THAT takes. Finally! Whoa! What the actual ham?! What? Don't you at least normally look like a female at this hour?! I don't know, I'm feeling extra lazy today.

Kind of like how you feel everyday! Nice one... (Sizzle) (Footsteps) Hey! WHAT?! I'm making pancakes. Did you want one? Oh. Hahaha pancakes...

HOW TO MAKE a LIGHTNING FARM in MINECRAFT!



You know there are times where I make videos that just don't make any sense(Don't We All), But, for whatever reason, they're entertaining and hysterical in their own way. Like when I removed all of the stone from world generation Just to see the chaos that ensued. Link to that video can be found above. And while today's video isn't quite as extreme as that one, ultimately, I'm making this video for fun.

Today, I want to know how to increase your chances for being struck by lightning in Minecraft Because, you never know, one day, it might wind up becoming an achievement. And let's be real, It's kind of an achievement all on its own. I've been playing Minecraft for 6 years 9 months and 14 days And I've only ever been struck by lightning once. And, funny enough, It was on video during my death swap with Logdotzip...Fun times.

But anyways, Let's check out how to best prepare yourself to be struck by lightning in survival Minecraft. Okay, let's get into this. What is the most optimal way to be struck by lightning in survival Minecraft? Well, first things first we need to understand a little bit more about how lightning strikes in Minecraft. And honestly, It's pretty simple.

During any given thunderstorm on any block that rain falls on top of There is a 1 in 100,000 chance per tick per chunk that lightning will strike the ground. So with that in mind, I originally had the thought that if you load as few chunks as possible you would increase your chances of being struck Because there would be less surface area for lightning to strike. But, that's not necessarily true either. For instance, if you only had one single chunk loaded, There'd be a 1 in 100,000 chance for a lightning strike per tick if you had 100 chunks loaded There'd be 100 times the surface area for lightning to strike But it also be 100 times more likely for lightning to spawn at all Because it's per chunk per tick.

So with all of that in mind, it just kind of evens out. Simply put it doesn't matter how many chunks are loaded, so what should we try next? Well, after diving deeper into the mechanics of thunderstorms in Minecraft, I found out that you will take damage from a lightning strike if you're within three blocks of it on the X and Z axis, And then there's some variance on the Y axis. But then I found out another interesting tidbit of information; When lightning chooses a location to strike, before appearing and before hitting the ground, the game looks for any living entities that can see the sky within a 3x3 region that the lightning chose to strike. If any happen to exist within that region, Yourself included, the lightning will instead strike that entity dead-on.

What that means is you can slightly Manipulate where lightning will strike and increase your chances of being struck altogether. Because of this fact, I had the idea to create what I'm gonna call a lightning farm. Think about it this way if you're all alone standing out in the middle of a field at any given moment There is a seven by seven block area where lightning can strike And hit you, but what if on the edge of that seven by seven area, you put a bunch of pigs. Again keep in mind, if lightning strikes within a 3x3 block area of any living entity The lightning will strike the entity dead-on instead; Sort of teleporting to that entity.

So, all of a sudden, We've increased our range for being struck by lightning from 7x7 to 13x13. If lightning strikes anywhere within this 13x13 area, It will deal damage to the player, either directly or indirectly, and as such it'll count for this experiment. So, I built this little contraption according to the math that I had worked out and just waited. And after about four in-game Thunderstorms, it happened, and the contraption worked.

As you can see from this footage, One of the pigs on the corner was directly struck by lightning, and Because I was close enough to that pig and by proxy at the lightning bolt itself, I was also struck by lightning. So, it works if you want to be struck by lightning in survival Minecraft This is the method that I would recommend. While this may not be absolutely 100% the most effective way to do this, It's certainly the best way that I could quickly figure out given the information that was provided through the Minecraft Wiki. So before I go ending off this video I just want to show you guys a little behind-the-scenes of sorts in how I set up this experiment And how I wound up confirming some of the numbers that I had for this video.

So, the first thing that I have in front of me Here, is just a little area that I set up in order to see how far away from lightning I could be before I wouldn't no longer be struck, and by proxy how close to a lightning strike I had to be in order to take damage from it both on the Y axis Along with the X and Z axis. So, again, all I have set up here is just this little tower of glowstone Which doesn't really mean much, but lightning is gonna strike The block right above it because if you look on the f3 menu you can see that it says that I am looking at -22 6 -796. So, if I go ahead and I type in this command here You can see that lightning is going to strike the block right above it Which would sort of simulate the block that I am standing on, so, yeah. Let's go ahead and let's do that there And you can see, as long as I type in that command lightning is gonna strike that exact spot every single time.

So, what I found out is that you can be standing somewhere around nine blocks above the lightning strike and Three blocks below it and still get struck, so, let me go ahead and let me go over to gamemode 0, here, And you can see that if I stand on the very, very, very edge of this here, That I'm actually not going to get struck by lightning at all, so, yeah. I know visually it looks like the Lightning might be striking on this platform, but it's not, it's going right through it. So, anyways, if I go ahead and I step about a block closer, and I summon lightning again Then I am gonna get hit by lightning. Now, if I go one block too high Which is, I believe, somewhere around nine or ten blocks above the lightning strike? Then I'm not going getting hit by lightning if-* even if I go super, super close, I'm just not gonna get hit, and if I go ahead and I stand right here, I'm gonna get hit, so, yeah.

All right, Let's go ahead and let's go over to gamemode 1, go down here, And, I also discovered that you can be somewhere around Three blocks below the lightning and Not get struck as well-* or rather four blocks below and not get struck. So, if I go ahead and I summon the lightning here, You can see there It is. BAM, the lightning strikes, but if I go one block further up And I'm still within that three block area away from it Then I will get struck by lightning. So, that did actually confirm to me That any entity that is going to get struck by lightning does have to be within three blocks of the lightning strike In order to take damage.

And this really only applied for me because I just wanted to know how close I had to be to the Actual lightning strike in order to be affected, so, yeah. That's how I set up the initial experiment. Now, beyond that point I wanted to know about this whole experiment with lightning striking other mobs And then by proxy striking me instead, because obviously the concept of lightning striking Within, like, something like six blocks away from you like one, two, three, four, five, six, it can strike six blocks away from you with This setup and still hit you but with this setup it can only be three blocks away from you, so Obviously, the latter seemed more appealing. So, again, if I were to be standing right here and lightning struck this block, I would wind up getting hit by lightning, but if it struck this one, I wouldn't be because the light wouldn't do the teleportation thing and teleport to me.

So, yeah, what I setup here is pretty much what you would have to set up for yourself if you wanted to get struck by lightning. So, again, If lightning were to strike say this block right here Because the pig is within three blocks of it, the lightning would sort of teleport to the pig itself, And then the lightning would instead of striking right here, It would actually strike the pig directly because, again, the lightning strikes the entity dead-on if it's within three blocks. Now, if lightning were to strike within this inner area, Then I would just wind up getting hit directly, so, you know, it's gonna work out No matter what. If lightning strikes right here, It's gonna choose one of these two pigs to teleport to.

If it strikes right here, It should still select one of those two pigs to teleport to. So, let me go ahead and let me stand in the middle of the center square here. This whole area is 13x13 as I said in the video And I have already tested this, I know that this is gonna work But let me go ahead and let me head over to gamemode 0 Here, and let me go ahead and let me type in this command instead where instead-* what let's see here I think I need to tap up a couple of times...If I execute on Some random pig within 10 blocks of myself, and I summon a lightning bolt... Let me go ahead and let me go into the F5-% you know, yeah, like F...F5 here.

If I go ahead and I summon this lightning bolt here, Then, as you can see, it hit that pig back there, and I got hit by the lightning strikes. So, let me go ahead and let me do this here And you'll see it a little bit more directly since it won't be directly behind me here. BAM!(Crackles In Game) So, as you can see, lightning struck that pig dead-on and that does simulate what would happen if lightning were to strike Somewhere within this region; It would teleport to the pig and the pig would get struck. So, let me go ahead, Let me do that two more times since we have two more pigs to go through BAM! So, as you can see, we get hit by lightning and that pig, well, he's not gonna last very long because he's gonna be Dead.

BAM! There we go. So, if you want to get hit by lightning. This is the setup that I would recommend making. Sooo, yeah.

That pretty much covers it. Hermitcraft 5 Episode 3 - IRON FARM!



Intro start   Intro ends Hello everyone, this is Mumbo and welcome back to another episode on the Hermitcraft server! I have literally just joined the game, and by the look of things, my store has been raided already! *Laugh* That's a very good spoon! *Laugh* That's perfect! Basically what happened is... Is that I built this thing, completely forgetting that in Hermitcraft season five we're not REALLY going to be having too many shops, Because Hermitcraft series four became very much about the shops. And we kind of wanted to avoid that in Hermitcraft season five, so now you're only allowed one shop per person... And...

I...I kinda... I kinda didn't want this to be my shop. I don't wanna be selling glass for the entire time on Hermitcraft! *Chuckles because it's a bad idea* I actually want to be selling villagers, so I basically closed it down as soon as I had finished recording the episode, and by the look of things somone has caught on to this, and called me a massive spoon. I guess this is the first spoon moment of hermitcraft season five *Transition noise* Now, before we start, I've got two things that I want to mention to you: Number one is that today I'm extremely excited, because I've just received confirmation in an email that I am going to be test driving my absolute dream car/van...

Dream car van.. On Sunday, and yeah I'm over the moon, this is something I've wanted ever since I was a child, so that's amazing, but also I'm extremely excited because I have just finished recording a little mini film that I am so so pleased with. I think it's awesome, it's only two minutes long, so I suggest that you watch that before we start work on today's Hermitcraft episode. The link's on the screen, and also down in the description, but now...

*Sad breath* now, we're going to destroy the glass shop. *Laughs on the outside* *dies inside* We spent hours on this in the previous episode, but... I just, it's not the right thing for me. *Transition noise* NO! ARGH! We had- we had a zombie villager right there! And I'm gonna be needing those today! And I was trying to catch him, to just- absolutely no positive effect whatsoever...

*Transition noise* I've just realized I've been breaking all my glass with my pickaxe when i had a perfectly good... ...Silk touch shovel... *LONG awkward silence of shame* And I've realized that with two windows left... *Tries to laugh it off* *transition noise* And with that, the entire thing has now been fully removed and hopefully we have enough grass to just about cover up everything- that kind of looks natural so I think we should leave that there *laugh* But...

There it is! The glass shop is now gone. Now, I am going to be building a shop on the Hermitcraft server. I think my plan is, is that I want to create like a bespoke villager shop, where I basically sell villagers, so people can buy villagers I will then put them *pause* in their base, wherever they want them to be, and then they can have that villager forever! So, instead of buying a mending book, you can buy a mending villager! That's basically the way that it's going to work at some point, but obviously we need to do a LOT of work from that point there But anyway! Plan for today's episode: we're going to build an iron farm because we need iron! Now I don't actually know where I'm going to build this thing, so I think I'm going to take a look at the Hermitcraft map, I'm going to ask Xisuma if there's anywhere where I should build an iron farm and then potentially just build it on this hill. *Transition noise* Now because iron farms are super ugly, I think I'm going to be building this one in the ground.

So I am doing a completely new design! For this one... One that I have never really built before and is designed by Nimz TV, by the look of things... It's quite a lot more compact than any of the other iron golem farms, so I guess... Fingers crossed that it actually works.

*Laughs away his worries* *Transition Noise* So, we now have one big hole out of the back of the dirt hut. Now this area right here is a 12x12 space, and this place in the middle should be 10x10 so we have I think, four blocks, and then a 2x2 area in the center... So four blocks there... And...

(Hello community) ...One day, *laugh* One, one day I will actually get good at measuring things in Minecraft. You would've thought, after building all of the circles that I've done, I would be good at this sort of thing, but clearly... Clearly I'm still learning. Progress is coming along really quite nicely! This design is incredibly simple, we're just placing in all of the doors...

Helping the Homeless Through Farm-to-Table Training



- [Announcer] This Great Big
Story was made possible by Wells Fargo, established
1852, re-established 2018. - [Narrator] This is a
story about a dinner. But not just any dinner. This is a dinner that involves this
kitchen, with these cooks.

And this garden, with these gardeners. It's a center that's helping a community fight homelessness in a big way. San Francisco has a large
population of homeless people. Just last year, over 4,000 homeless people were reported unsheltered -
and over 6,000 unemployed.

Enter Farming Hope. A non-profit created to help those in need by training them in urban
farming, and cooking, in the hopes of helping them
find full-time employment. Joining us from the
Farming Hope initiative is Jamie, Kevin, and Asha. - We just wanted to be the organizers to piece this knowledge
together of how do we grow food and cook it in a way that
opens up our food system, that gets people the job, and the training that they need and want.

So what we do is we recruit folks who are experiencing homelessness to join the Farming Hope community and put our mission into action. - [Narrator] But for this to work, participants have to
learn the true meaning of farm-to-table. So the first step is in
the garden with Asha. - My role is to help facilitate
the employees in the garden.

So since we just planted this one, maybe we won't harvest it. But we can harvest from
the rooftop garden. We water, we're also growing new plants, so we're putting seeds in the ground. We harvest every week for the kitchen.

Kevin uses these in his tacos. And so being here and encouraging them. Beautiful. To get back in touch with themselves just as much as learning about gardening, I think is important.

Then once the produce is grown, it's off to the kitchen with Kevin. - My role in the kitchen is to facilitate a lot of the hands-on
training that we're doing with our transitional homeless folks. We do a lot of stuff from
knife basics, time management, cleanliness, stuff that can
be directly transferable to other jobs, either
in food or not in food. I'm always really inspired by the people that we're working with, 'cause they're the ones that really dedicate themselves to the work.

They're here; they're
putting in 110 percent, so I think our folks really
deserve a lot of the applause. (Chuckles) - [Narrator] And finally,
the team gets to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Each week, they serve up
a meal to both homeless, and non-homeless people. - [Kevin] So for tonight's
menu, we started off with a roasted butternut squash taco.

The second taco, that's a stewed zucchini. The last taco is a fried rockfish taco. And then lastly for desert, we're serving a vegan chocolate mousse. - [Narrator] And while for
some eating is the best part, for Philip, it's the experience.

- I was homeless for almost six months for the very first time in my life. I was introduced to Farmers Hope. So I learned a whole lot.
- [Asha] Can you smell it, it smells like lemons a little bit. - Right.

It kept me there thinking about my life. So when I'm there, I have peace. They gave me a new place to go. - I think the most unique
part of Farming Hope is gathering people from
distinct walks of life to break bread together, and
just be next to each other.

Not every moment of our
life has to be about fixing everything, and
it actually has to start from that place of empathy, of
awareness, of neighborliness. And by involving everybody
at the same level on a dining table, it allows
us to open the space up to actual dialogue, actual
empathy, actual solutions..
